A Perinatal Mental Health Workshop for Couples

Virtual Workshop

UPCOMING DATES:

  • October 29, 2026, 5-7pm

COST: $75.00

NOTE: We want this workshop to be accessible for our community, so if the cost feels out of reach, please contact us to explore options.

This virtual workshop is open to couples who are expecting a baby at any stage of the pregnancy. Recommended when 20–40 weeks pregnant.

Designed for couples — both partners attend together. The workshop is neurodivergent- and ADHD-friendly, with an adaptable delivery style and tools designed to support different thinking and learning styles.

This workshop is open to all residents of Ontario.

Facilitated by:

  • Kathryn Palmer (Registered Psychotherapist)
    Activate Psychotherapy

This workshop is designed to help expecting couples feel more prepared for the emotional transition to parenthood. While many prenatal classes focus primarily on pregnancy and birth, couples often receive much less support around how to plan for the emotional and practical realities during the adjustment to becoming parents.

We developed this workshop to help both birthing and non-birthing partners feel informed, supported, and better equipped to move through this transition together.

Topics we'll cover:

  • Understanding perinatal mental health, including expected adjustment and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs)

  • Recognizing your own signs of increasing stress, overwhelm, or difficulty coping

  • Mentally preparing for the realities of birth and early parenthood

  • Acknowledging the unique experiences and needs of both birthing and non-birthing partners

  • Guidance for creating a practical Birth Guide together to communicate preferences, priorities, and support needs

  • Practical strategies to help both partners prepare for postpartum

  • Ways to protect connection and work as a team during a period of significant change

  • Exploring supports and resources available as you navigate the perinatal period

Participants will also receive a workbook based on the exercises, practical planning tools, and main concepts covered in the workshop.
